Summary Minutes – Combined Meeting

Trinity South Sudan Ministry and BOMA Assistance Group for South Sudan

The President called the meeting to order with eight members present. A quorum was declared; the minutes of the September meeting and tonight’s agenda were approved. The meeting was opened with prayer.

REPORTS:

  • There were no reports from either the Trinity South Sudan Mission Moderator or BOMA Assistance Group President.

  • The situation report indicated little change from last month. (A supplemental report has been submitted.)

  • Our CPA reported adequate funds to complete this year’s existing programs but not to allow growth.

OLD BUSINESS:

  • Pibor Midwife Program: A building has been donated by Pibor Presbytery for a Clinic. It has been divided into spaces for patients and is being outfitted with beds, tables, and chairs. Our first Nurse-Midwife is taking final exams and is expected to report in December. Funding for salary, equipment and medications is still needed. This clinic will greatly improve Maternal Survival in childbirth and their children.

  • 2026 Mission Trip to Pibor: We confirmed that five will make the trip. We are checking to see if MAF provides service on Saturday which would allow more time in Pibor. Additional volunteers are welcome to join us.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • The Pibor Presbytery Moderator requested we send five evangelists and one Elder to Nile Theological College. Following discussion, we will clarify the costs and advise the Moderator that we will fund a total of four students at one time for tuition and fees working toward having one in each class.

  • It was moved, seconded and approved to provide funds for brain scans for a female student to determine the cause of her severe headaches which have affected her ability to study and attend classes.

  • Following discussion, a request from the Theological Education by Extension program for funds to conduct a three-day trauma healing workshop in an Ethiopia Refugee Camp was denied for multiple reasons. The Secretary will advise him of the decision.

  • Humanitarian Aid: We have received funds for purchase of tarps for shelter for 300 families displaced by flooding to Pibor.

  • A request from a pastor for funds to send his wife to a computer class was not approved as not consistent with the objectives of the ministry.

Our next meeting will be on Monday, November 10. There being no more business, the meeting ended with prayer. (Below is a photo from one of our trips from a prior year.)
